Water in wheel-well vrs est

Featured Replies

Octavia 2007 vrs estate (with towbar)

Hi just spent much of the weekend trying to trace a leak in my boot which is filling the wheel well to no avail.

I searched here before to look at the common causes and checked the following:

rear washer connection

rear wiper

rear light seals

boot seal

rear side air vents/exit (behind sides of bumper)

There was a little water on the inside of the tailgate but this exits through a hole in the bottom to the outside of the car

Everything else was fine but I took the precaution of resealing everything!

I also:

Removed the grommets on the well floor and resealed them.

Checked for any leaks around the side and rear windows

In the dry I took the car for a 2mile run and came back and there was about half a cup of water on the floor!! It was only wet in the well and the water was coming in through the two slots shown arrowed on the attached pic. You will see In the pics I have but some blue absorbent paper behind the two slots.  I went for another drive again in the dry and got back and the paper was soggy in the cavity behind the slots.

Trouble is, I can’t for the life of me determine how the water is getting in to this cavity.

Any ideas would be welcome as in this weather with the slightest bit of moisture on the inside the car is constantly steamed up.
