Was speaking to a fellow member and one of the thing he mentioned he noticed is that the Monte Carlo’s with ESP appear to have XDS. 

 

Had a look around on VCDS and sure enough it appears that it does. 

That's EDL, only the vRS has XDS according to the manual

 

XDS is just EDL / Electronic Diff Lock for Dyslexics. 

 

 XDS+ when it came in was just something extra for 'Media Press releases' .  EDL / XDS & XDS+ all disable when they overheat.

Well it seems the manual was written well, they can't even spell XDS correctly
