OBD11 mystery change ???

Featured Replies

This week was my first real foray into the world of OBD11 mods, headlamp washer delay and the virtual subwoofer (thanks @SashaGrace ) and it all works fine, however whilst showing the history log to Mrs Cakemonster, I noticed the change to the aircon I've highlighted below. What is this? Other than the fan display in auto which I did via an app when I got OBD11 in November (to try it out) I haven't been near the aircon, the others are all dated Wednesday this week and the random one was first.

I know I can change it back, but any ideas how it happened anyway?

I've looked at the OBD11 app without it being connected to the car, but if I had a "fat finger" and changed a value would it remember it and apply it when connected? - but I'd still have to press and hold the green button to accept?

Other than the ambient temperature being too low for the aircon to chill, it all seems to be working fine

How did you make the changes?

Did you physically change the longcoding yourself or did you use their ‘one click’ function?

The one click function is notorious for changing totally irrelevant codings at the same time.

Personally I would check what the difference between ‘0C’ and ‘4C’ actually is.

the fan display I did in November with a one touch app.

the surround sound was done in long coding, but changed byte 11 via drop down menu. the washer delay I did via adaptions - both of these were this week

As above, have a look in the A/C module and see what the long coding helper says the difference is.

Panic over !!! :blush:blush

That change corresponds exactly with the long coding changes to have the fan display in auto (it's in the VCDS sticky)

I just don't know why it would have this week's date on it when I did it in November!

Dunno. Glad it’s all sorted though :) Plenty more for you to get through :D

Cheers @SashaGrace yes, it looks like I'm at the bottom of a learning curve, my first cars taught me to weld and fix the oily bits, looks like this one is teaching me other bits and bytes

We all start somewhere! I started with old Land Rovers growing up but quickly ended up here with lots of computers to play with. Tbf the Octy is the first car I’ve had that is able to be modded like this. My C30 was heavily locked down by Volvo and the Fibre MOST wiring system so I was limited to go faster mods (the shame :D) and my AMG Mercedes has every option I could want anyway, the Citigo is fairly basic and not many mods to do. Before those I had a 307 for 8 months when I was 17 and then quickly upgraded to an Audi A4 1.8T Cabriolet when I was 18 that stayed remarkably standard for one of my cars haha, and I owned it twice lol. That completes the car history. Oh, and the £95 Fiat Punto that bridged the gap between the C30 and the Citigo :)

I'd love a Landie, but I don't fit in them

Cars I haven't modded much, but bikes, they tend to end up "tailored to suit"
