Skoda electric boot struts making clicking sound

Featured Replies

hi, i am getting a clicking sound from the right hand side strut of boot, when i open or close the boot. This is more towards opening and closing and not after that. I am attaching the sound recording with my post. Can someone tell me if its a genuine issue or it happens after few years of use. The dealership says I might incur charges to investigate as the boot is  functioning as it should be.

Thanks

In my previous B8 Passat Wagon I had the same issue with the electric tailgate struts.

They were quite simply replaced under warranty.

@ope126 for me the sound is not very loud and one needs to place their ears near the boot struts to hear it; tho for me it's quite audible. Was it loud in your car ?

Hi,

Now my 2016 SEL 190 Hatch suffered from a similar about 6 month's ago on the Off Side Strut, and was duly changed out under warranty by Lookers Skoda in Harrogate, as it is a known fault

At least get it looked at under warranty. If it does die completely even after warranty you have a record that you registered the fault before.

Mines done this a few times when it has been very hot.

Thank you guys, I sent out the video and sound recording to Skoda, via service centre. I had to do this as the person who checked it in the service centre said she couldn't hear it.

They don't feel its a problem and if i want to get it investigated, they may charge me 160$ just to investigate if not found covered under warranty.

I might forward everyones response here with the recording again directly to Skoda and try to sort it out.
