Featured Replies

after 14 months of the best motorin i have done, i am sorry to say the furby is going tomorrow. just bought my own house and the mortgage comes first before my monthly payments for my car. a guy from carlisle has bought it and he comes to pick it up tomorrow. its the best car i have ever owned by far, it served me well in the 3200 mile round trip i did to monte carlo and back last summer, and numerous trips up scotland. tomorrow will be a sad sad day!! only spendin around a grand on a new car. lookin for somethin like a 1.25 zetec fiesta or somethin along them lines. was lookin at a 1.6 primara but it was sold. oh well, i reached my 1000 post on here the other day, and i will deffinatly be back when i get my money together and either get another furby or even the new vrs when that comes out. at least i wont have to worry so much about scraches on my new car!

Sad day.Mind you, there aren't many people with skodas on here!

True perhaps, but you can still worry about fingerprints on your nicely painted front room walls :) There yer go, you're still here really after all  whatever car you choose :)

Congrats on the house

A sad day perhaps, but owning your own home more than makes up for it I reckon. Before I bought my flat 6 years ago I had saved up around 10K. I was going to spend it on a really nice car but I saw sense and put it down as a deposit on the flat. I'm considering moving house this year so once again the new car budget has been reduced from 10K down to 3-3.5K

Best of luck with the new car and the new house.

Martin.

I agree the mortage should come first, but think carefully about what car you buy. Stick to something quiet new and dont spend less than 2K unless you want to buy something that may cost a lot more to run in fixing costs.

My brother had a good car, the cambelt snapped so he had to buy something cheap. Turned out to be a big mistake and it cost him more to keep it going than he thought. He since sold that and bought my old octy, and no problems since. Apart from purchase cost/insurance and one service has not cost him anything.

I think that buying a newish car in the long run is cheaper than buying a lot cheaper one.

Still, I guess you'll soon be running back from the gym  What's the completion date - or have you moved in already?
