Tsi Citigo

Featured Replies

Will the UP Tsi /GTi engine fit into a Black Edition Citigo?

It's the same engine in terms of the block and head. I did hear some mutterings of there being modifications to the bulkhead to allow the turbo to fit but from what i've seen there's plenty of room. All the engine mounts are the same though.

No it won't. Especially considering the Citigo is due for replacement in 2020 anyway.

Are the 2 cars not the same - I’m taking about putting a salvaged 2017 / 2018 Up Tsi engine into a 2014 Citigo Black Edition - not the forthcoming 2020

Thanks Vitas - I’m trying to be cute - love my Citigo but instead of shelling out for a gti was gonna keep an eye out for a Tsi from an UP accident salvage with engine intact

Just do it!

It fits,

and anything fits if you do enough work, an Audi TTRS engine will fit.

Cheers mate - my car is mint with nice decals on sills and boot - just need more torque for overtaking etc

Cylinder head? How could it be the same when TSI is direct injection and MPI inject to intake manifold.

I know cylinder head and pistons are different for the lower compression and direct injection. What I was trying to get across was that the general dimensions of just the engine are the same

Is this something you would do, find the engine, fit it, sort out the engine management etc?

If you are paying someone else you might as well trade in your car for a quicker one, or just wait to overtake when there are a bit more safe distance to do it.

Or get a remap for starters and get a little more oomph.

It's not plug and play but might be doable. I have both at the moment, Citigo and up! TSI. A/C pipes are routed differently for example. So you might need more than just an engine. I don't know if gearbox is different but gearing surely is.

Emil - is there a massive difference between the Citigo & UP Tsi?

?

Have you not looked at a UP! TSI yet, driven one, sourced an engine and fitted it yet?

Are there many Accident Damaged and not repairable VW UP TSI's about, with usable engines at affordable prices?

There is difference of course. Is it worth the money? Not so sure anymore. I was never late with MPI. Or if I was it wasn't car's fault.
