Where are 'more adventures owners' taking them?,

the ground clearance is hardly there to take them up a farm track with a hump in the middle. Underside Protection as an option is good.

Haldex as an option would be as well, and All Weather tyres.

The OEM tyres will be rubbish at getting out of a grass car park at the races, festivals etc if it is a bit wet or muddy.

Approach and departure angles might be important for speed humps or getting on ramps, driveways etc.

Autocar's article is rather good. Not!

Vision -X concept stuff is a nonsense.

'For Urban Families'  what about Single People?

Spell checker / proof reader missed Koadiaq.

Then there is the 'City SUV' .

Very very Urban driving up kerbs, verges etc.

The Nissan Juke comparisons are an odd one.  Lets just get to the facts, it is not a Yeti Replacement, just a Higher Fabia / Rapid type car and not a Scala.

Eventually Stick Electric Motors in the rear and make it a Part Time AWD Hybrid is the answer.

PS,

If the prices are right it could be a great success.

Looks like lots are to be optional bits and pieces, time will tell in the UK.

Skoda UK might sell lots to Motability.

Launched / ordering available 3rd quarter, maybe actually on Motability list 4th quarter, arriving in some numbers 1st quarter 2020.

Must admit, some marketing speak baffles me, anyone care to translate

"Dynamically swept roofline"

"Rear passengers have a generous 73mm knee room"   (which way do you measure knee room ?)

".... perfect for our youngers customers in urban SUV sector"    (presumably opposite of older people in rural)

"Dynamically swept roofline"  translation - its not straight

"Rear passengers have a generous 73mm knee room translation - only suitable for young children

".... perfect for our youngers customers in urban SUV sector"  translation - great for generation Z, cruising round town, and taking Mum to the supermarket

I really like the look and the idea, but Skoda / VW need to get a clear out of the Media Team and maybe tell the 'designer' shut your mouth and draw.

Hopefully it will never need to be referred to as the SKODA taking the Mick.

Memory loss on where he has seen Pop out door protectors before, like on a Skoda...

he must have been reading the Media package and they had just put that in....

All of the ŠKODA KAMIQ’s engines are direct-injection units with turbochargers. They come with brake energy recovery as well as Stop/Start technology and comply with the currently strictest Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standard. The entry-level engine is a 1.0 TSI delivering 70 kW (95 PS). From its cylinder capacity of 1.0 l, this three-cylinder model produces maximum torque of 175 Nm and features a manual 5-speed gearbox.

The 1.0 TSI with a power output of 85 kW (115 PS) comes with a 6-speed gearbox as standard, but can be fitted with a 7-speed DSG as an option, and generates torque of 200 Nm. The top-end engine is the four-cylinder 1.5 TSI with a power output of 110 kW (150 PS) and maximum torque of 250 Nm. Its Active Cylinder Technology (ACT) automatically shuts down two cylinders when the load is light, thus saving on fuel. This engine is also available with a 7-speed DSG as an alternative to the manual 6-speed gearbox. All three petrol engines are equipped with a petrol particulate filter.

The four-cylinder 1.6 TDI diesel engine delivering 85 kW (115 PS) also offers torque of 250 Nm; it is fitted with an SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue injection and a diesel particulate filter as standard. This efficient diesel engine is coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard; a 7-speed DSG is available as an option.

The latest version of the 1.0 G-TEC is a particularly efficient and eco-friendly way to drive the new ŠKODA KAMIQ. This three-cylinder engine has a power output of 66 kW (90 PS) and maximum torque of 160 Nm, and is designed to run on natural gas (CNG). This generates lower CO2 and NOx emissions compared to conventional fuels. Power is transmitted via a manual 6-speed gearbox.

With 37 mm more ground clearance than the new compact car, the ŠKODA SCALA, the ŠKODA KAMIQ’s chassis combines the advantages of an SUV with the agile handling of a compact car. Sport Chassis Control allows for an even more dynamic set-up. This optional sporty chassis is 10 mm lower and, in addition to the Normal mode, also has a Sport mode with firmer characteristics for the shock absorbers that are adjusted electronically.

Drivers can configure the two chassis settings in the menu for Driving Mode Select, which comes in combination with Sport Chassis Control. Driving Mode Select offers a choice of four modes: Normal, Sport, Eco and Individual. As an optional extra, underbody protection is available for those who also like to venture off-road.

Everything here is repeat of what is available in Seat Arona

Although the CNG engine not currently sold in UK

FR and FR sport Arona get sport suspension

The Arona FR sport gets adjustable dampers

Some higher spec Arona get the 4 driving mode

There is one difference, in the Arona the diesel with DSG is 95PS unlike the 115PS diesel manual, not sure if Kamiq will get 115 diesel DSG or this is description error.

They need to do something with 1.6 TDI's with SCR and DSG, think 'Skin' & Rice Pudding'.

Urban Families need to be able to tow things, Foldable Caravans, Jet Ski's, Offroad Motorcycles, all the Lifestyle stuff,

or at least get a Multi Bike Carrier onto a tow ball....

LOL 'Most of you',

like the Most that need a vRS for the Sporty Looks and ability to maybe do twice the NSL in the UK.

Sheep in wolves clothing comes to mind.

Saying no AWD option as a Skoda Design Chief goes on about 'rugged looks'.    Next version they do will be a 'Scoutline'. FWD only.

Makes me laugh how they keep mentioning the umbrella in the Simply Clever solutions! Wow! I had one in the door of my Passat 10 years ago.

I like the look and size of the Arona so will consider the Kamiq. I'll look at the Arona as well as long as the suspension isn't too firm.

Wife doesn't even know where her Karoq umbrella lives, had to show her the other day after 13 months driving the damn thing.:rain:

People moaning it isn’t AWD. Most of you don’t want/need or afford the extra for AWD. Stop moaning losers

The numbers needing all wheel drive must be tiny

However the standard summer tyres normally fitted to UK spec cars, are not most appropriate choice, as most use them all year

No one in UK needs tyres that can deal with 40-45°c summer temperatures

Much better if all seasons that are optimised from -5°c to +25°c are fitted instead (and good for another +/- 5°c range)

The numbers of Urban Families needing AWD from a rugged looking SUV likely is tiny in cities.

The number that will take a Kamiq or any sister Small/ Suburban/Sports Utility Vehicle that VW Group build on an Offroad Adventure or even a Green Road Adventure is even more tiny.

As it is they will not be giving a jot about the extra height of the rear deffuser.

As to the 10mm sporty lower chassis. That 1 cm lower roof will be making all the difference in helping to wash it, or load your Expedition gear on the roof rack.

........................................................................................................................................

The Hot new Urban 'Loaner / Johnny no mates' adventurer vehicle / must have.

This guy thinks he knows what offroad is, he just drives off the road or out of car parks onto verges, ditches & embankments.

Very Urban, lets go 'Offroading'.

PS

These come with OEM crap Bridgestone Tyres just like VW Group SUV's do.

They have been doing this with Suzuki's for 20 years now.

A Forestry Commission / Ranger type person might have a word when they see him there next.

Quite an easy to spot vehicle and driver and they have the reg number.

'They' are very comprehensive about what they are going to be offering for sale, surely if it has special driving characteristics as a feature they would be telling us.

Surely that would spoil the fun and excitement (brown stains) of the first drive home?:whew:

Too late chap, I've already done that joke in the Karoq forum referring to the Kamiq.
