Grey is the new black, apparently

Quartz grey - it’s the place to be!  #gladtobegrey

Myself, @BriskodaJeff and @penguin17 all sport different shades of the wonderful colour.

Saying that, I think @penguin17's car had a missed coat :D (There's definitely still life in these top-notch-side-splitting Meteor jokes)

So grey is the new black then?

Old...

Yes - it is.:)

By having no top coat I’ve improved my cars power:weight ratio

Its a marmite colour, yes. I’m still not convinced it works on some cars/trim but IMHO it looks great on the Sportline; the cars lines and contrasting gloss black trim ‘just work’. I was always a fan of the similar Nardo grey on RS Audi’s and Porsche have rehashed Crayon grey from their 70’s/80’s 911’s too. VW group is now awash!

Like I said though, I just don’t think it ‘works’ on none-sport(y) models and especially not with chrome trim.

The problem is choosing the right grey.....

And a big thank you! :@ I’m an insomniac with OCD. I’ll be up all night trying to pick my favourite

Oops... late to the party again. But I did like @BriskodaJeff's song.

I'm not sure where you buy your marmite, but I'd have a serious look at the sell-by date if it's the same colour as your car!:D

Probably helped by the fact that grey is a no cost option for more cars? Meteor grey anyone? :)

If grey is the new black, may be I'm a step ahead, I've switched from Platine grey to Moon white last year.

I know. The ba5tards charged me for the ‘privilege’ and it then became a free colour not long after I took delivery.

I was was expecting to see a lot more of them but mine is still the only one I’ve seen.  Perhaps there’s a reason why?....:D

Not sure if it’s the angle but the S3 makes the S2 look small!

Do you think the S3 is an improvement over your old one?

The sizes are quite similar between S2 and S3, you're probably right about the angle. However, the main reason I've switeched to S3, is the few additional inches between both rear door armrests.

Indeed I need to set 3 baby seats, which takes a loooot of space... As I didn't want a MPV (it would have been a punishment for me! :crying:) I was really happy that the S3 meets my specs :whew:...

Otherwise, the improvement on all systems (driver assistanc, infotainment, etc.) effectively gives a big slap to the S2. :D

Couldn't agree more @Bap33. Just to add a couple of comments...

The width difference is small but definitely significant. The downside of keeping the outside to a sensible size is the too-small door mirrors. Which of course Skoda solved with the Blind Spot Monitor.

My S2 was brilliant - never missed a beat and took every mile of motorway I threw at it with aplomb. But as Bap says, the tech on the S3 makes it a class apart. In my case, DSG with ACC and the traffic jam assist was worth the cost of change all on its own. The rest is a bonus.

My only hesitation about the S3 is how the tech will stand up over time, though that would be the same for any similarly-equipped car.

Back to the colour... The other car I shortlisted against the S3 I bought was black. It wasn't the deciding factor, but from a cleaning perspective I'm very glad the grey one won out!

@BriskodaJeff Thanks for the tip about Traffic jam assist. I was not sure anymore if it was available on Superb Mk3. I’ll ask in a VCDS topic how to retrofit it. I had never seen any mention about it until then. ;)

Back to the color, I wish I had a Meteor grey. But I didn’t have the choice, since I wanted specific equipments and I wanted it quickly. The car was already on the assembly line, when I signed the PO :D Never mind...

IMO, Meteor grey gives the S3 a more classy appearance...

Apologies if you already know, but there isn't a specific TJA setting, and if you have Lane Assist and Active (Adaptive?) Lane Guidance then enabling these in the infotainment gives you TJA automatically whenever you turn on ACC.:)

Works well on a 230 and yes it's the " BE57 "

@BriskodaJeff : I do have ACC + Lane Assist. According to this video:

Lane Assist + ACC = TJA. You're right !

I thought I was missing somtehing, since sometimes my S3 doesn't "restart" as soon as the car ahead restarts too. I need to press the throttle pedal...

I believe Porsche has a similar crayon grey type colour that is an option.  Be happy it's free on the superb!

I took the video out just to save scroll space, but that youtube channel (1001cars)  has some good videos on it. The demonstration of SLA leads me to believe its not massively more useful than HBA, even though they recommend it as an add on. Their videos have however confirmed for me that i want to add the reversing camera and possibly the side sensors to detect oncoming cars/people/bikes when reversing out of a space.  I could defo do with the front parking sensors and I slightly regret not having the park assist, mainly cos the geek in me just loves a bit of that!

I also now know how my TJA works and in fact the car won't try to stick me in a ditch if i don't touch the wheel for a while (it'll just shout at me lots then stop in whatever lane i'm in).

Anyway. Meteor Grey is a rarity round these parts because I've been asked a few times now is my car wrapped...
