581 Bulb (LED)

Recommended Posts

Something CAN-Bus friendly (to avoid the blown-bulb warning on the dash).

Osram and Philips do versions of the 581, all readily available through eBay and Amazon etc...

I have this LED's and they are great: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Canbus-Error-Free-No-Hyper-Flash-Amber-Turn-Signal-BAU15S-BA15S-PY21W-1156-S25-LED-Bulbs/1396454_32945895534.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.1.67105dc5LgGW4z. No hyperflash, no error on dash

You can find identical one in A L I, but I have made a mistake, ordered them and they show blown bulb error on dashboard. That's why they cost only 3$. Here is video how's on my Octavia:

Hi!

No problem. No, for $15 you get one pair (2 bulbs). Description is wrong. :)

Yes, they are. From outside. They are not CANBUS and there is a big weight difference between cheaper and expensive bulb. I ordered those cheaper but at the end… I put them on my tractor :tongueout:

 Point taken!!!

They are for my MkII Superb, which I've discovered has a pretty stange front indicator bulb - PH24WY, not the PY21W that the MkII Octavia uses.

But the Superb does take the PY21W for the rear indicators, so I've ordered both...

The description is misleading, it has nothing to do with the 'colour temperature'.

If you look at the two choices, one is P21W, the other PY21W. The 'Y' is very important...

All MkII Octavia's (estate and hatch) use the PY21W bulb for their front and rear indicators.

This is my first stab at adding LED's.

@silver1011 I just got to that bit I will make sure tomorrow what mine are

@Krunoslav @silver1011 Out of interest what LED bulbs have you used for side lights, break lights, Rear / Front Fog lights and Reverse is any

I changed all rear bulbs to LED and they work like charm. Combi version in each rear lamp has 3xP21W white, 1xPY21W amber and 1xT10 white clearence / position light. You can see picture attached. From same seller I ordered all bulbs. But he has no white in his store anymore.

I will post video wich shows reverse bulb in action. Shines like heaven.

Did you also replace the W3W bulbs with LED's (that make up the 'C' shape)?

image.png.95fdce5b064ee5fbbc7091bd2cc3e3f6.png

Yes i have. W3W is T10. I primarly bougt them for front clearence light but bulbs are to long and don't fit in socket. They touch front glass. Sure, you can "wobble" them but... socket didn't do click when install. But in rear lamo they are great. As you see, this LED has no front LED chip.

Nice, do you have any links to the sellers!?

Are these both 'no-error' LED's?

You say these won't fit into the front side / parking lights?

They don't look any longer that the standard non-LED bulbs so I thought they would fit inside the headlight without touching the lens...

IMG_20181008_132111.jpg

Where as these look very long...

Which ones are brightest?

The last one. And they look better built than firs one.

I'm writting on smartphone so I'm bit slow. They don't produce error on dash. And believe me, they don't fit. Aluminium bulb housing is to wide and don't slipp deeper into socket.
