Is it better to choose a red LED, or white LED, for use behind a red coloured lens?

Glad to help you :D I think white are better. Never used red LED's before. I think colored lenses are good combination with white color. You can try red ones and share the experiance :D

  • I have this LED's and they are great: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Canbus-Error-Free-No-Hyper-Flash-Amber-Turn-Signal-BAU15S-BA15S-PY21W-1156-S25-LED-Bulbs/1396454_32945895534.html?spm=211

  • Hi!   No problem. No, for $15 you get one pair (2 bulbs). Description is wrong.

  • They look good! Two pairs ordered!

You have been very helpful thank you!

I've already ordered the LED turn signal / indicator bulbs, but I've always wanted to upgrade the rear brake and tail light bulbs on my Superb.

Unfortunately the brake / tail bulb on the Superb is T15 W16W. I'm not sure if these LED bulbs can dim to operate the 5W tail mode, and then get brighter for the 16W brake light mode.

Think I might need to buy some and try it!

But then I'll need the T10 W5W bulbs to complete the look, but I think they're too long...

Decisions. decisions :D

Glad to help :D Thats's interesting. Never seen this before because I never owned superb. :-)

You can ask sellers if they will dimm. Size is not problematic:

I changed all rear bulbs to LED and they work like charm. Combi version in each rear lamp has 3xP21W white, 1xPY21W amber and 1xT10 white clearence / position light. You can see picture attached. From same seller I ordered all bulbs. But he has no white in his store anymore.

I will post video wich shows reverse bulb in action. Shines like heaven.

I have seen RED led behind a red lens and I dont like it. It looks to red I know that sounds stupid but I think its to dark!

For the front side lights I used these bulbs as they fit and don't hit the lens. What I don't like is they are black!

Yes, error is produced by H8 LED fog. :-)

No...only unsolved problems with H8 LED blown bulb error on dash. Tried regular 8Ohm resistors but they are hot as hell. I'm thinking to get this resistors:

Nothing on my side how did it go with your resisters?

@silver1011 Did you get the bulbs in?

Yes, sorry, I'd forgotten I was posting in two different threads!

The bulbs arrived a couple of weeks ago...

The rears were dead easy, and work perfectly...

No such luck with the fronts though.

The metal prongs inside the LED bulb caps are much longer than those on the standard Philips incandescent bulbs, which prevented them from fitting into the bulb holder properly. They worked but the longer prongs prevented the bulb from fully seating into the holder.

LED on the left, original on the right...

I tried shortening the contacts with a Dremel type tool but they snapped :-(

Ordered one pair today. I expect them to be delivered next week. Seller says those resistors are not so hot as ceramic ones because they are exactly fitted for o2 fl H8

Resistors are here, and they are great. H8 fog LED's dimming nicely. :-) After 10min resistor are barely warm. Just enough resistance to work without error on dash. Very happy. :-)

Here is example:

Usually you are better using an LED the same colour as the lens it will go behind, otherwise due to the brightness of an LED they can make a sidelight look pink.

Do you have a link to the resistors, my LED fogs do not give a warning on the dash... but they also do not dim either

Is the dimming a standard feature?

The cornering fogs should dim in the same way as they do in the Octavia.

I'm guessing LED's don't fade in or fade out as well as incandescent bulbs...

Yes they dim as std, but when you fit LED’s they usually stop dimming due to the low power needed.

These adapter looms with the resistor fitted just waste the extra power not needed in as heat, hence they use the normal power and will dim.

Looked on their website and they are €25 a pair, but another €15.50 postage!

Without resistors they are simply on / off

I see questions and correct answers. :-D @Gizmo, if you register shipping is 5€ cheaper :-)
