PS2 network play?

Featured Replies

Right, I wanna have a go at network games with the ps2. I understand that i will need a ps2 network adaptor and a router modem as i currently use a usb modem. Is this all i will need?

Any suggestions for a decent but cheap router? was looking at THIS

Any help and advice much appreciated as i dont have a clue :)

Cheers

Steve

To save hassle, the router you get needs to support forwarding all packets to a specific IP address on your LAN (local area network). So say 10.0.0.128

Then you manually set the PS2's IP address to 10.0.0.128, but use DHCP to dynamically give out IP addresses to any other computers/consoles/devices connected to the router.

This is also know as the 'DMZ' - demilitarized zone. Essentially the PS2 is then connected directly to the Internet which is what you want as online games use various ports and whatnot to 'talk' to the gameservers (and this would require configuration on the router for each game).

That eBuyer one looks fine to me (it has DMZ), yes a USB modem is much more hassle, junk it!
