Monte Carlo decals coming off

Featured Replies

I recently took delivery (Nov 18) of two brand new Monte Carlo's and after a few hand washes, I have noticed that the decals on the doors and sides are starting to come off the car. I have never owned a car with factory fit decals before so i'm not really sure on the longevity but I would have thought they would hold up to being hand washed (which is what I am assuming is causing the decals to lift off the car).

Anyone had this happen and would it be safe to assume warranty will cover this?

From talking to the decal folk locally that fitted the 2nd Skoda kit to the lad's Citigo, the materials have a service life of 10 years (which should mean you'll get far more in the UK). Can't be pressure washed or car-washed though.

Having had to remove the original decals from the lad's car (long story, insurance related not decal problem related but explains the "2nd" in the first sentence), that was really hard to do. They were stuck on good and proper, needed lots of hair dryer action on a hot day to get them shifted. There was no way they were coming off in a hurry and I reckon they'd have stood up to years of abuse.

The only thing I can think of, is I don't know if they are fitted to the car by Skoda at the factory (where they should all be uniform, or if the decal kit is supplied for the dealer to fit as part of the PDI (where the quality of the result may be variable)?

Whatever, back to the dealer for warranty replacement, I'd suggest.

Cheers Gyp - I'll speak to the dealership and see what they have to say.

I've got a 2014 Sport that has decals that were not looked after (car washes, pressure washing and general abuse) after 71,000 miles they have dulled a little on the roof and bonnet (sun) and around the boot release they have bits missing from careless opening. Your 2018 should still be pristine.
