Squeaking door pillar and drivers door exterior black plastic panels

Featured Replies

Has anybody else had issues with the black plastic exterior panels on the pillar between the front and rear doors and on the drivers door?

Both of them are squeaking when going over bumps or when pushed on the bottom right corner (edge facing drivers door) on the pillar panel, or the panel bottom corner near the door edge on the drivers door.

The pillar panel has been replaced once and it’s now booked in to get both panels replaced.

It's plagued most models of Skoda for years. The issue is nearly always more noticeable in the winter when the plastics, and presumably the clips that hold them on to the door become brittle.

Mine squeak, but only when I'm holding them as I'm pushing the door closed, not whilst driving. It's worse when the car is frozen.

Are you sure it is the trim that is squeaking? As the car contorts slightly as you go over speed humps the doors can move against the rubber door seals and squeak slightly, again a relatively common issue, although not exclusively with Skoda.

Gummi Pflege is brilliant. A quick wipe with the in-built applicator along the door seals and it's cured, at least for a year or so...

As above, I get these squeaks but have put it down to the seals moving over the flexing chassis as it only happens when the chassis contorts in certain situations. I had used a product to lube the seal which seems to fix it but will now look at the product suggested by silver1011.

If I push the bottom right corner of the door pillar large black plastic it squeaks and it also squeaks going over any bumps in the road etc. The drivers door is now starting to do the same, but it’s over the entire length nearest the door edge. I’ve ordered some of your suggested product, to rule out the seals.

The service manager at the local dealers had a look at it today and he wasn’t happy with the fit of the black plastic bits, so the cars booked in on Weds.
