No acceleration on incline\decline

Featured Replies

Sometimes when on an incline or decline, slight or steep, and I go to drive off or reverse there seems to be no acceleration available so car will not drive. Have on one occasion rolled into car behind as car would not move forward. Turned car off\on again, this seems to work but not always at first attempt. Have reported it to my Skoda dealer\garage who described it as a 'design feature'. It is still happening and I want to go back to the dealer\garage and say no this is not a design feature but a fault. Any idea what the fault might be?

Need more details!

  1. Manual or DSG?
  2. What engine/year/model?
  3. When this happens does the engine rev without applying any drive or does the engine cut out completely?
  4. Is your start/stop enabled or disabled?

Cheers

It's not a 1.5tsi manual by any chance is it?

Hi

1. DSG

2. Model: 5E53MD  Skoda Octavia Sport 110TSi 2017 (I think)

3. Engine doesn't really rev, it is like it is trying to but it can't, a bit like the fuel isn't getting to it to rev, so probably cut out completly

4. Start/Stop enabled

Sorry if you have already tried, but:

  1. Have you tried turning the start/stop off and testing again?
  2. Does it still do it if you put the DSG in "Manual" mode and change gears yourself?

Hi, thanks

I haven't tried these so I will try next time, it only happens fairly infrequently 1-2 times a month.

Cheers
