Future Purchase - Octavia 4x4

Featured Replies

Right currently a Scooby owner tho currently driving a Octavia 1.8T (Discos car from Impreziv Motorsport) whilst he is modifying my Impreza to silly levels! (460bhp minimum!)

I fancy for my next project an Octavia with 4x4 drivetrain. So which models come with the 4x4 drivetrain? I want to fit:

Adjustable Coilovers and Dampers

HUGE turbo

FMIC is a must for power output

Exhaust

Mappable ECU (To do myself)

I must be able to push over 300bhp as a target to aim for.

What costs are involved in this and what stuff should I use? Needless to say Disco will be part of this project heavily!

The car MUST still have all the leather and heated seats, Climathingy etc and a decent set of wheels etc on it that doesnt say "Ive been to Halfords" all over it!

A few ideas please :)

Any of the V6 engines have any supercharger conversions available for them at all does anyone know?

Well, if you want a new one - none! The 4x4 has been discontinued if I'm to trust the Skoda UK site. If you want a second-hand one, there are plenty of estates and the occasional hatch, all in the same Elegance spec, so with heated seats and climate control, but no leather AFAIK - that's optional.

Suspension can be done, as has been proved by some on this site. Huge turbo, would that be Jabba's IHI kit? Never been done on a 4x4, but there are German and Swedish 4x4 projects that are quite crazy. There are some examples somewhere on the RS6.com forum. FMIC is also a known quantity, while exhaust would have to be custom, as the standard Milltek option doesn't fit.

So roll on the usual suspects for further pointers...

Nice one thanks.

Jabbas IHI kit? Nah dont think so rather go with a custom turbo from Mark at Lateral Performance and see what Disco can do there.

Custom Exhaust again designed by Disco and made by Hayward and Scott. Currently got the Impreziv Hurricane for the Impreza and sounds amazing. Though that Boxer rumble is nice ;)

FMIC will be needed for the higher charge temps.

How much do used hatchback 4x4's go for?

4x4 estate still listed on the website and in the pricelist/brochure Skoda just sent me.

If you cant be swayed away from leather & heated seats the only model that has these is the L&K which will limit your choice considerably,

maybe look at getting a lower spec model & fitting seats from another VAG car aparently a lot use the same runners.

If you are looking at 300 brake & the associated torque the std transmission is likely to fail.

Again you can rob stronger secondhand bits from other VAG 4x4 cars but I guess you may be looking at up to a couple of grand for the bits + fitting.

Seats, Audis & VW's all use the same powerplant so as far as mods go there are a lot of things that have been tried on other marques that can be done to a Skoda, The Octy also has a massive engine compartment giving plenty of room for "bolt ons"

Discos already played with the RS so knows what other things that can be done.

re suspension he supplied me with the KW2 set up which is well worth thinking about.

If you are going for big power dont forget the brakes, I went the Godspeed route but there are many other options on the market.

Lastly re the power you are looking for, I am currently running a remap which gives me 226 bhp but a massive spread of power, my previous Scoob was dynoed at 292 bhp but the powerband was crap. The skoda is definately more fun to drive & generally performs as well as the scoob against other cars so its not all about bhp.

Maybey setting your target to say 250 the std transmission could live with it & therefore save you a few thousand

As for prices, hunt around,

Excellent :)

Transmission wise do you think it will fail? Just had a look at the Jabba kit pushing 365bhp and 350nm torque. Hmmmmm could be interesting!

Leather option I can retrim the seats myself to be truthful. Just takes a bit of time!

Meet sounds good. Duxford airfield? Aint been there in ages. Except I am on the Isle of Man :(

Coilovers in Discos boot are those so he must be putting them on his car. I might just do that!

Must have been browsing the hatchback listing then? :D

Someone gave the Torque figures that the 4x4 Transmission can take some time ago. Cant remember the figure but it was certainly sub 300 nm, I have a figure of 275 in the back of my mind so at 350 I would guess the transmission would probably work for a day or 2.

I agree Jabba market a kit that will give those figures, I have driven their Ibiza with about 350 bhp & it was "interesting" but just because they sell the kit it dosent mean that other mods are not required

Are you sure, Stuart? Usually, a mild chip (say to 210 hp, like mine :) ) will already give you a torque figure somewhere between 300-320 Nm, and all these cars have been running quite some time longer than two days... :D

Stuart, I hope that you are wrong! My Jabba'd 4X4 recorded 338.9Nm @ 3370rpm after remapping.
≤220bhp/250lbft

Ah, so would it be 275 lbft then? Highly probable, don't you think?

Mattijs, you may well be correct, cant remember the torque figure for mine but if Denis had the same map as me then I am also over the figure I thought it was so my transmission should be unwell by now & its not (I Hope).

SO !! Does anybody know the true figure as my memory is obviously suffering from a senior moment.

Stuart

272 lb/ft

Six speed from TT (

Cool cheers guys!

Spoke to Disco and he said the same regard the Audi TT box.

Sound interesting! Any car from standard really you have to do internals. Just done the entire internals on the Scooby!

Hmmmm sounds interesting.

Ill have a think and see what I can pickup!
