Driving Mode Select

Featured Replies

I've got a 2017 f/lift vRS TDI DSG and have a question:

If I select economy for example, the car will coast when I lift of the accelerator and the display in the dash displays an 'E'. When I switch off the engine, the car appears to still be in Economy but it doesn't coast and there is no 'E'' displayed on the dash.

The same thing happens when I choose Sport - the engine holds the revs and an 'S' appears on the dash but when I switch off the engine, it seems to reset.

Is this normal?

Yes it is normal I`m afraid. You do have to push the button every time you start up to select the mode

Yes, it will retain the mode on the infotainment unit but the gearbox always forgets.

If you are in sport after a restart, simply use the DSG lever to switch between D and S after initially moving off.. much easier than stabbing the vRS button then selecting on infotainment panel

eco mode on a vRS is as much use as a chocolate teapot :giggle:

All it did is was **** me up the first time I used it not realising it coasted and removed ALL engine braking. I really don't like it and I can get better fuel stats in Normal on my 245 TSI

I drive mine in Eco a lot as just on the motorway and never had any issues.

Not really used Normal sonwill try it and see how it drives.

Easiest is to set up as individual I guess.

Ive changed the name of the mode button to "fun killer"
