Cruse control speed increments

Featured Replies

Dead simple, Press the accelerator until going 10 mph faster then press set.

or off, go 10 mph slower and set.  and back to up and down by 1 mpg increments.

Just sat through this twice - there's a long section of the 4 between Hartola and Heinola which alternates between 80 and 100km/h and it's all camera'd and busy. So I have to press and hold or accelerate or brake or remember or try to press... four clicks for 20km/h would be awesome.  But I also read that it's probably not possible :/

Yes but sometimes, most of the times, owant to increase the speed faster, then clicking 10 times.

Then I just accelerate  to the speed I want & then set the cc

yes, you can do that. Doesn't mean there shouldn't be an easier, more accurate way to do it.

An Octavia with ACC has an extra stalk which, as has already been posted in this thread, will allow increments of either 1mph or 5mph depending on how you operate the stalk when ACC is engaged.

As @brettikivi has pointed out those countries operating in kph only get one kph increments with normal CC (with controls on indicator stalk) so those with uk versions complaining about a whole mph change are just whingeing..... as usual. ;)

Can this be fitted on the Octavia without the radar?  And use it for the normal cruise control?

Do you mean the extra cruise stalk? Physically yes, but I very much doubt whether it can be made to operate like it does with ACC, or even operate at all...

BTW it would be MUCH easier if you quoted what you are asking about instead of leaving readers to guess B)

Our Superb goes up in 5 mph increments which is a total pain if you simply wish to increase the speed 1 or 2 mph. Whoever set that need a stiff pole up their arse. Obviously a sensible chap set the - button since it goes down in 1 mph increments.

Luckily the Fabia is like every car that I have owned before with cruise. It goes up and down in 1 mph increments.

But please tell me why it is such a pain to press a button several times. Its not rocket science counting to 10 is it. Alternatively increase speed using the loud pedal and set the new speed.

Absolutely!

If mine only incremented in 5mph steps it'd be useless to me!

The vast majority of times I use it there are other cars on the road, those who don't have/use CC tend to vary their speed a fair bit but only by a small amount.  Keeping a safe distance behind them and changing by +/- 1-2 mph allows you to match their speed easier.  5mph changes would be way too much.

so in the end the topic was not if it's useful or not, or what other alternatives are .. pressing the gas, the break pedals, etc.

Is there any way to code the speed thresholds? YES/NO - How? :)

I cannot acknowledge the fact that it cannot be coded. If it's not an option via VCDS, but should be a way of doing it.

Please ...

There are no coding changes or adaptation channel changes which anyone has discovered and posted in the internet that can change the speed increment.

In their "wisdom" it seems VAG have written their firmware such that the speed increment is hard coded - so the ONLY way to change it is by hacking the firmware. Do you REALLY want hacked firmware controlling the speed of your car?
