Alarm Siren - Dead, or just sleeping?

Featured Replies

Hi all. I have a 2009 Octavia MkII L&K. Periodically, the indicators will flash when the car is parked, as though the alarm is going off, but there is no sound. I put it into a local garage, and they told me that the alarm siren has died. I thought that must be it, and I have left it until the New Year to get done. However, this morning I read that, if the alarm siren was dead, I wouldn't be getting the bleeps when I lock and unlock the car. I am still getting those. So is this correct? Would the bleeps disappear? If not, is my alarm siren being a funny b*gger?

Lock the car with the key remote, wait a minute and open the door with the physical key.

The alarm will trigger and you will hear if it's working or not.
