63 PLATE 1.6 DSG GEARBOX FAILURE

Featured Replies

Had a gearbox failure light come on when putting car in garage, next day light still came on, drove a few miles and revs were high compared to speed, parked up and later went out to put car in garage, had no gears, revs in drive 1250 max, revs in neutral 2500 max, any ideas?

Hopefully its not a catastrophic failure, you need to get some diagnostics done on it, it might be just a control issue

Sorry to mention this, a colleague at works wife has an estate 1.6 tdi 64 plate DSG over 40k on it. Maybe newer than yours I.e. new shape. Gearbox issues, went to Skoda didn’t have full history, needed a new mechatronics unit £1800. Surprised these issues still plague the DSG

There is a Service Campaign / Recall action covering some DQ200 DSG from 2013-2015, and this is a Software Update.

You need to check if a DSG was part of this Service Campaign and if done.

Plenty failed which was the reason the Software Update was required.

As to still being plagued.

From 2015 there is further issues with Clutch Slip, and for that issue there is a TPI, and Clutch Plate Upgrades.

There is a Thread in the Fabia Mk3 Section on that.

So issues 2009-2012 and the World Wide Recall, and Europe just Service Campaign '34F7', Change to mineral Oil and the software update, then 2013-2015 the Heat / Pressure and MCU failures.

If you are still having issues, I would recommend Milta technology in Bristol. They know absolutely everything about the dsg box and their prices are very good. I know of a few people that have traveled 100s of miles to use them and always sort it out.

Well got it checked out at local Skoda garage and they said it was the mechatronic box and maybe clutches but won't know till they change box at a cost of £2,200, I have sent e-mail and letter to Skoda UK complaining about it, waiting on reply, at the moment it's in a garage getting new box fitted for £1,400, should be ready today or tomorrow, love the car but wouldn't get another unless I get extended warranties......

Same shape I think there is a problem with the 7speed dry clutch as my last Skoda was a 1.9 6 speed wet with no probs, I sold it at 130k on clock.......

Well got car fixed, it was the mechatronics box, Parks Skoda wanted £2200 to replace then said could be clutches so they wanted me to pay the £2200 and then they would test it to see if clutches were ok, if not, would be another £800, so paying out £3k for a car worth £5k.mmmm, so took it to a specialist who repaired the mechatronics box for £1200 and he could tell when he took the box off that clutches were ok so not too bsd in the end, complained to Skoda but they didn't want to know so I reckon the 7 speed dry clutch has problems which they don't want to know about, they don't even have an exchange system for the boxes, shocking!....
