SuperSkoda Honeycomb Grill

Featured Replies

Good Morning All,

After some lowlife decide to boot my vRS grill whilst parked in SouthSea on Sunday - I find myself in need of a new grill.

So maybe an upgrade opportunity awaits - has anyone fitted one of these http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-RS-Facelift-front-grille-in-OEM-honeycomb-design-KI-R-V2 and can you comment on the quality - is it OEM quality as they state.

I'll require a new frame as well - and typically I have the more expensive black pack one.

We'd had a lovely afternoon out with two of our Grandsons and we came back to a kicked in grill.

It was totally mindless I was packed miles away from any cars - wasn't blocking a crossing point or anything, not reversed into as it was the pavement side of the grill and they would have had to have been driving on the grass verge to hit just that side and not damage the front of the grill in anyway.

Thanks

Paul

IIRC there's one available in the FREE section that might be okay.

I think @themanwithnoaim has plans but don't know of anyone that has actually fitted one yet.

@JohnnyType2 has one on his pre facelift.

btw facelift grills seem to be selling for 69 euro on superskoda, that has got to be a printing error as the pre facelift are twice that?

No error, order now processed for honeycomb grill, black grill surround, P & P plus fees

Be interesting to see what you think of the quality when it arrives. I'm also pricing up a standard replacement and new black design frame as I have the black pack.

Will decide what to do when I know both prices.

Can't bring myself to look at the front of the car, I've moved the slats back into place so with a glance you can't see it is broken, but of course I know it is there. Will take a look at the paint on the bumper at the weekend and see if I can polish the scratches out ot if it will need a respray.

Weighed it all up and decided to stick with a stock grill - didn't fancy going down the modified route with the insurance with the restrictions that entails.

So I've got one on the way from RPS £65 delivered - the system doesn't think that I will require the frame but Mike and I aren't convinced but that is only an extra £40 if I do end up requiring one.

Is your frame broken as well, @Rsrob says the frame can come off in one piece with the bumper off.

The buggers scratched it as well so I was going to replace it as well.

Good old Pompey? full of students who can barely parallel park, hit and run galore!

Sorry to hear about your car, hope the new grill will look good!

Hmmm I'd double check that frame is the black magic one, £40 sounds too cheap

It doesn't show for my VIN on the Part System - you could be correct as the Part shows as Matt Black. I might be able to re-use my one - I'll have a good look at the weekend.

Has anyone got the Skoda Part Number for the Black Magic one?

OK so the new frame has arrived and it is the glossy black one that I have on my 2017 vRS so it is correct and was only £40, the grill is wrong it doesn't have the badge holder - but I am fine with that - I will just de-badge the rear to match.

its bonded on the the original so it wont work with the honey comb, You can buy (as i did) the replacement with two screwed fixing point allowing you to bolt it at two point. Mine was £7 for the black version....

Less choice of insurer - depending on how may modifications you make there will come a point where you have to turn to one of the specialist brokers for modified motors.
