Brake Pad wear indicator

Featured Replies

So, my wear indicator has come on on the dashboard in the way to work this morning.

I assume that they will be ok until the weekend and are not about to imminently trash my discs. ??

Or am I wrong?

should be fine but don't put it off   ---not much meat left by now:blush

Depends on your plans... if you're planning on doing a 500+ miles trip through the mountains or only 5 miles to your local grocery store.... makes a lot of sense.

Anyway: I would replace the pads asap. Also, for my car, the wear indicator was only on 1 wheel, so i would check the other side as well.

Should be done at the weekend. 100 miles to and from work this week is all I'm doing. In rural Wilshire. Not many mountains here. ;-)

The wear indicator is not the be all and end all.

Check  the brake pad thicknesses. You will probably find you have thousands of miles left on the pads

Replaced today.

On both sides, I noticed the inner most pad had worn more than the outer.

Greased the slider pin/bolt bits. No binding if the brakes apparent at all.

Just wondered if anyone else had come across anything similar?

Replaced the pads with some Brembo ones that I got for a bargain £26 delivered

Not uncommon with brakes these days.

Were your brake pads sided/handed?

Wear wire on the inside pad and you can see the outside pad.

Yes. That's how they were.
