Starting issues 2.0 tdi

Featured Replies

Been reading on forums about possible issues with moll batterys. Last 2 mornings had trouble starting turning over and over eventually started. Anyone else had recent problems booked into dealer Monday to have it checked out I no mechanic but sure it could be this as car runs perfect once started. If it is this I seen there is a lack of batterys in the UK some people waiting upto 4 weeks. Also says that you should get module replaced at same time is this covered by warrenty.

The dealer will conduct a battery test, whether it's starting the car OK at the time of the test won't disguise a failing battery.

Ring Skoda Assist next time, quicker and easier than booking it in at the dealer, most of the mobile technicians carry spare batteries now too.

The shortage of batteries isn't as bad now as it once was.

Are the batterys covered by warrenty

Yes they are.

The day after collecting a 3.5 year old yeti, I have a dead Moll battery. Dealer service department closed until Monday, so have to wait.

In November 2018, my Fabia III suffered the same problem, but wasn't covered on the warranty, and in any case, the batteries were on back order and are eyewatering prices, so I couldn't have one anyway. I got an equivalent calcium battery off eBay for £32.00 which worked fine until I traded in the Fabia. The moll battery seems to have a short life span failing at around 3.5 years. I'm hoping that the dealer replaces the battery free of charge, or they can have the car back...

This latest bad batch of MOLL batteries seems to originate from sometime late 2017 to early 2018.

A friend with a 2017 Superb Sportline estate just had his MOLL battery replaced under warranty.

Sorry, the battery was £62.00.
