Featured Replies

Finally got my new 3 button, flip style key cut and coded for my Superb. Got the key for

Will I need a 4 digit SKC to code my new key (once cut) to work with my car as well?

Wasn't aware that was a factor. :) I beat you anyway. Same key, same source for £23 :P

£29 inc. P&P. You will need to get the 14 digit imobilser code for your car using vag-com. Give that and £15 to the dealer and they'll give you the 4 digit SKC code.

It's the code you use to log-in with on the vag-com (the one where you either use 0 + the code or use the 7 digit SKC code screen)

Does this not work to code the key?

Remote Key Re-coding

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,

One of the remote keys ("flick-style") on my Octy vRS stopped working a while ago and my dealer ordered me a new one. As my dealer is miles away from home and work they sent it out in the post and talked me through the re-coding procedure on the 'phone. This has appeared elsewhere in the forums but the procedure listed was a little vague.

Having just done it successfully two minutes ago I thought I'd pass the correct procedure on - maybe this could go in the FAQ ?

Put your working key in the ignition and turn the ignition on (but not the engine).

Put your non-working (new) key in the drivers door, turn and hold the key in the lock position (anti-clockwise) and press and hold the lock button for two seconds.

Then turn and hold the key in the unlock position (clockwise) and hold the unlock button for two seconds.

Turn the ignition off and take the key out.

Job Done !

Cheers,

Jim B

Thats to code the key to the car to operate the remote central locking. The key will still need to have the transponder for the imobiliser programmed either via vag-com or at the dealers.

Is this the advice you get for 99p on here on Fleabay?
