Boiling sound

Featured Replies

I've just noticed a sound coming from the expansion tank over the last few days when I turn off the engine.

I can't be sure if its  been there  before but it sounds like a pan of water bubbling on a hob.

It's a 1.0  110 dsg and has 2000 miles on the clock.

My last 1.2 110 dsg didn't make the sound.

I dont thrash the car and the temp gauge has been showing 90.

No warning lights.

Is this normal?

Electric coolant run on pump, continues to pump coolant for about a minute after the engine is switched off to ensure the turbo bearing doesn't overheat. Bubbling sound is probably coolant turbulence in the tank, as the water returns in the black pipe quite fast

Thanks,I feel better for that information!

Is it just me or can you actually hear the pump in the video?

Yes I wondered what the other sound was at the time, you've answered my other question.

My 1.2 TSI 110 does that.
