chip for vRS octavia

Featured Replies

hi folks,

new to the forum and the vrs.

recently purchased a oct vrs hatch in black, 03 plate.

happy with the 180 bhp but have heard that its easy to chip the car to put out over 200 bhp.

any clue if this is the case.??

do you have local meets for skoda owners.

It is very easy to get over 200bhp from a remap / chip. Common ones seem to be Jabba, Custom Code, Revo, APR, AMD and possibly a few others. Most generic remaps will see 210bhp or so. With a turbo back exhaust, air filter uprated DV it is possible to see 225-230bhp with around 235-250lbft of torque :D

As for local meets see Meets and events forum and choose your region

Good choice of car by the way

thanks for the response.

going to have a go at getting pennies together for upgrade, dont want to reduce reliability though. does any one if hey still un ok after basic chip upgrade??

Yep, they run fine after a remap. Mine was chipped at about 8,000 miles, I then did other bits to it. After a further 130,000 miles, including about 12,000 track miles I sold it. 2 years on I gather it is still going strong.

As far as the generic remap for the Octavia VRS is concerned is there any difference between say custom code, AMD, Jabba, Revo etc or is it simply best to go to the nearest tuner?

They are all different - as are the prices - but the latter differences are easier to see! Do some reading up here for opinions although you will soon see that each tuner has their own fan club, eg I am very much a Jabba fan having had a Jabba remap for the past 2½ years.

I went 'generic' as it gives a big change for not a lot of dosh and went for APR as 'Awesome GTI' is local to me.

Hi Mate

As has been said you will find that people do like to go with whats local.

There are many tuning companies out there but it is usually best sticking to the most popular ones.

There has been so many threads on this and some have got just a little hairy at times ;)

So take time to read up on some , call dealers and ask questions.

Ask them why their map is better than the others.

Listen . take notes and then come to your desision.

I dont think that there would be many people out there that would say "I have spent £400.00 ish pounds on a remap and I dont have the best"

But take time and learn.

This is a great forum for doing some research , but be warned that as it is a public forum you will not get many people on here shouting about poor remaps.

You could always try PM ing people too I am sure they will all be prepared to help.

Sarah

Thanks for the advice, I'd better get researching then. Anybody got any details on any tuners in the Surrey area cos there doesn't seem to be any around? Has anybody heard about or dealt with a tuner called Eurotek based in Croydon as they do the custom-code remap which a lot of people on here seem to rave about?
