what is the bhp of 1.3 feicia

Featured Replies

looking at buying the wife a 1.3 felica.its the L model ON A 1999 V PLATE,IS THIS THE 54BHP MODEL,AND IS IT ANY GOOD.ALSO DOES IT HAVE PAS.CHEERS ALAN

It wont have PAS as standard no.

But a good all round car, pretty reliable and cheap to mantain.

yes it is the 54bhp model.

I dont recall a "L" model I always thought bottom of the range was something like LXi, which would be the multipoint 135 (low compression) engine but on the facelift cars they changed all the model designations. Couldnt state the exact bhp but 54 wouldnt be far off. I would guess no PAS on a base model, but couldnt swear to it, as Ive not had a lot to do with facelift felicias.

The 136 (high compression) engined vehicles will be a better drive with around 68bhp. But I havent got a clue what models had that engine on the facelift felicias.

V plate should have the latter DIS MPi engine, not sure on power however tbh, I think it should be the 136 engine though iirc

thats all im really bothered about.test drove avectra tonight it had 118000 miles on it,full service history but it drove like a total bucket.i think i would be better going for the skoda 48000 v plate

Sounds like a good deal to me, i've had two Felicias myself and as a Skoda tech it kinda says they are pretty reliable, I hate fixing my own cars ;)

test drove the felicia today,i couldnt belive how bad it was.dreadful engine and brakes and just about zero grip.i ended up spending

cant say I can complain about mine. Ok brakes are not great but for a 1.3 the engine is nippy and torquey.

I found the handle ok, though in the wet grip is not great, but then either would any car on cheap eco tyres.

Though I'm sure the nissan will be a great car and they seem to go on forever.

Ive had a fair few favorits and felicias, Only had a couple which were bad on the handling side.

Brakes, someone probably hasnt ever adjusted the rears and fitted cheap pads at the front or something. When they have good linings and the rears are properly adjusted they are really good brakes. For rally use people use the standard system and just uprate the pads!

If it wasnt handling well Id have suspected suspension damage at some time. That said I hate the feel of PAS on these cars, but even then you can tell the difference between a straight car and one wiht something bent.

the 1300 engine is normally quite nippy, best in 136 form, but even the 135 can be fun. if they arent going well theres normally a problem and being an old skoda engine its probably not serious :D.

current car is remaped octy vrs previous car was 270bhp,maybe i was a bit harsh with my description of felica.it just depends on what your used to.

Unfortunatly, All felicia L model's (one of which i own, so they do exist, pre facelift) and lx models have 54bhp, lxi and above have 68bhp (high compression).

Even the facelift models have the low compresion engine 54bhp if they are the low spec ones.

And yes there is no pas on the l felicia, but there is on the higher models of the pre facelift models

Our 1.3 estate is badged as a GLXi though the insurance company say there's no such thing. Pre facelift - metallic "champagne" (not quite gold, not quite silver), driving lights in the front bumper, roof rails, little 100 years comemorative badges on the wings but no power steering:( . Really heavy to park so the mrs. is on at me to sell it. It's fine on the move though, very stable and precise. Had new front struts last year so maybe that's helped the stability but parking...

I was running a Lada Niva when we bought it so it seemed light at the time.

it definatly exists, the glxi brand came from the favorit even, i've got a glxi favorit.

they did lots of different variations.

l, lx, lxi, glx, glxi, glxie, slxi, the list goes on.

I think it must be the case that pre facelift there was no pas. i have one without and onw with, the one with is breeze to park, while the other does require a bit of arm strength, but its managable, my mum can use it, so i think its ok ;)

LOL I got a 96 GLX-D never existed they say it was a felicia special ......... "er no that was the posh thing the laurent and clement " mines the base and ONLY diesel for 96!!!!!!!!! still insurance cant find a GLX-D nor could they find a 99 LXI (english), i'm in france, so the LXI got the insurance rate for the 98 L! swings and rounda-bouts i guess?

Mine's pre-facelift and has PAS. Could have been an option on the Diesel models?

Hi There

Well I have a T reg 1.3MPi GLi Felicia, at the moment. And I thought I would put my 2 cents worth in.

The car is, ok to poor to drive. I find it sluggish and lacks any form of respectable torque. It has 49,800 miles on the clock and the is nothing but problems after problems appearing: -

1. Thermostat is Faulty (Common Problem)

2. Gear change is notchey (Common Problem)

3. Airbag faulty (Twice)

4. Rear light Cluster is Faulty.

5. Interior Trim rattles

6. Replaced Ignition Switch (Twice)

7. Wheel Bearing Perish often

8. Fuel Economy is poor at 33mpg around town and to work and back, 38mpg on long run. (Observing speed limits)

9. Clutch seems sloppy to me!!

However breaks are good, stops on a sixpence :D

Anyway this may sound like a bad one in a thousand, but however my parents have a R reg 1.3MPi GLi and the same problems as above have occured and theres has 41,000 on the clock. So as I always say, there is never smoke without fire !!!

Just my two cents worth.... the remedy I have in plan is to save and get me a Skoda Fabia VRS. (Hence the profile name....) well after I see if and how many issue's arise on this car. Or alternately a Toyota Yaris 1.4D-4D T3 (The new one with the 90BHP engine) :)

Ohh and Hi I am new to this forum :D
