I have a Mk3 Fabia SE 1.4 TDI Estate registered October 2015

 

The dealer advertised it with cruise control

 

I have now found out and the dealer has confirmed that it does NOT have cruise control, only speed limiter. There is no 'D' button on the underside of the stalk. Definitely no cruise control.

 

Has anyone with this model successfully installed retro fit cruise control please?

 

I need to know if it is possible so that I can ask the dealer to either get it fitted or pay for it.

I'm kinda on the same route as you.

 

Been busy today..I just bought a used MK3 Fabia Monte Carlo TSI Estate Reg 2016 - with Speed Limiter. I used to have a MK3 Octavia but due to engine issues i had to say farewell..sadly, and now i'm missing Cruise Control.

 

I have phoned up Skoda Dealer to get a price today, which was £439 (IF! there is an IF) you have the correct BCM. If you don't, then its an additional £305 - Labour is estimated, so could change - i was warned. Also there is a back log on stalks according to another source.

 

Found the stalk on Ebay, and found a mechanic to fit it and code it, has worked with Skodas for a long time but sounds like they have never done this procedure.  However the Skoda Dealer got me thinking. whats BCM. So i found this on older threads.

Might lead to no where as Speed Limiter is on SE+

 

It also sounded like my Skoda dealer has never done the procedure too...If i get the time i may drive it in and try and get someone to have a quick look and tell me if my BCM acceptable. Someone on another Post paid £345 for CC.

 

We are all thinking, Replace the stalk with the correct one (No looms etc) and then re-code. Could it be that simple?

 

Any help would be great...

Speak to Skoda dealer parts apartment and they will get the info from the Reg. then they will look at the notes..and they should give prices over the phone. To be honest, my dealer threw me over to a 3rd party installer...I’ve emailed them, will let you know.

If any of you know someone localish to you that has VCDS, then they could scan it for beer vouchers and that would tell you which BCM was fitted to that car, as you might expect, VW Group only fit the minimum level/capacity of BCM to each model, I think that there are normally only 2 or 3 levels of BCM - and then modders start using BCM from other models within VW Group as a means of controlling extra non standard functions. For the 6C Polo modders, the preferred "ultra" high level BCM seems to be from a T5 or T6 or Amrok - from what I've noticed.

 

Edit:- I've used Kufatec for retro fitting some stuff, they only sell the parts or even only cables and you buy the extra parts and provide the labour.

 

Another Edit:- scrub that edit, Kufatec do not cover latest Fabia for CC retro fitting, also, if it matters, there tend to be 3 BCM versions for most platforms, lowline, midline and highline - I don't know what level CC requires, sorry.

Thanks, I've spoken to a couple of local retro fit 'specialists' this morning. One said they have fitted two same as mine in last 2 days and it'll cost £600 inc but it's not factory fit (can't be done) so will have extra stalk.

 

Other not fitted on my model but thinks it's same as audi A4 that they have fitted. They are checking with Skoda and phoning back. I'm wondering if they will be told they can't do it on mine.

 

I also have an enquiry in with skoda myself and waiting call back.

What does BCM stand for please?

Body Control Module, essentially it is a programable controller so it accepts commands from inputs like switches and handles switching the functions as well as making sure that unwanted supplies are shut down when not needed, like when the car is parked.

 

Very few if any actual switches on modern cars switch the functions directly, it is all done through a programable controller, in this case VW Group call it a BCM.

I would agree in principle, ie "not as advertised".

 

If no one is offering this retro fit as a package, I'd think that it is down to, at present lack of interest being shown by owners - or lack of interest at that price. Neither of these reasons will stop a dedicated DIYer making up a package to fit their car if they are keen on getting this function - a DIYer can handle buying slightly used parts from ebay, ie the expensive midline or highline BCM and maybe the control stalk, then making up cableforms to suit and reprogramming the car to accept this retro fit.

 

I put together a kit of parts to upgrade the rear only parking system on my old B8 S4 to full front and rear parking sensors with OPS, only buying new cableforms from Kufatec and all the other parts new and used via internet - that was a lot easier as all of that had been done already by others - but the price of me doing that was still horrible high - but I wanted that function, and I wanted it to be as per factory fit.

I have been in touch with a Local VCDS Gent! Some beer coming his way....

 

I'm going to take a look to see if i can find my BCM now, just get that code. It's all starting to make sense. I still would very much like the workshop manuals, i have the Octavia MK3 which was an interesting read when little things started to happen..

 

Once i know my BCM, then i can inform my mechanic and find out the cost of this kit from UK (Think they are on backorder). or purchase via Skoda-parts.com as they have stock.

Just found mine, 6C0937089C.

 

So no need for an upgrade on the BCM (Saving £300). however these retro kits are designed for cars without speed limiter, and i have an on-board computer.

Looking at the picture - the stalk is only cruise control. So i have to get a stalk with both Cruise and Speed Limiter, but maybe skoda aftersales can't offer this.

BCM compatiblse with CC is good and so a saving, 

 

Having a no option on CC + Speed Limiter, is that annoying or can CC not supersede Speed limiting in real world situations?

 

So dumping Speed Limiting in favour of CC is not or is okay?
