My 80k mile 1.8t AUM is running Castrol Edge 5w40, should I switch to Mobile 1 5w50 or liqui moly 5w40. Clatter at cold start is getting worse.

For the temps 34+C we have here in India I think I will give it a go. Any thoughts welcome plz..

If it is clattering at startup, I would check you have not got a blocked oil pickup pipe first, as that is quite a common issue over here in europe.

@skoda5232 - Changing the hot viscosity (40 to 50 centiStokes at 100C) will make no practical difference to the oil thickness at 34C or lower. If it's due a service fresh oil might do it, and if not I'd suspect a blocked pick-up and/or a hydraulic tappet issue.
