underside low

Featured Replies

The plastic tray right under the passenger seat is a tad lower than it should be/needs to be and has been catching on speed humps, any ideas how to get it up a tad?

Bash it up going over a Sleeping Policemen.

Or get it on a ramp and look see why it is lower than it needs to be or should be, like was it knocked down going over a Sleeping Policeman'.

what if the PC objects?

Ask them to have a look under the car for you while they down there.   To protect and to serve!

i thought about using a heat gun to warm it up and push it up while maleable or injecting a glue to tack it to the underbody

It could be that the bracket it attaches to is bent. Get it on axle stands or a lift to see what's going on.

I caught mine (on both sides) so many times that I ripped them off in disgust. I've not noticed any issues having done so... note our car has the factory lowered sports suspension.

Sports?....lol

mines a greenline so 35mm lower than std

I've got a greenline , bought it last month, and have been scraping most speed bumps and been wondering what to do about it. Removal seems a good option .

Thought greenlines are only 15mm lowered

Sport chassis, which I'm pretty sure is what the Greenline uses, is lowered by 15 mm front and rear. Nominal ride height for that setup is 376 mm front and 379 mm rear measured from the centre of the wheel to the lip of the wheelarch.

@DEL80Y

The Manufacturers never give the clearance figure or from road to roof with a driver and 4 paying passengers seated and cases in the boot.

Just like they never do the MPG or C02 g/km figures with a car loaded.

different chassis to the rest, not just lowered springs?...

does it have a chassis or is it a "unibody" (as the yanks say)

Chassis in this context refers to the suspension setup. It means different springs and dampers as well as different alignment settings.

2UC    SWP   Sports version (suspension = 15mm lower). There are also std, rough road and comfort options according to the online parts manual.

i think mine is due a set of springs soon..well the rear anyway.

front near as damn it 395-400mm centre to arch, rear stands at a very sporty 370mm  :)

build spec says standard suspension so now i know why with 3 bags of sand in the boot the towbar dragged on the gentle slope to driveway whilst reversing in !

Mines is on its third pair of rears.
Stay away from O.E
I fitted Lesjöfors this time around and the paint covering them is far superior to O.E
Will be going for Eibach -30mm next time round

I just went out and measured the ride height on mine, both rears at 380 mm on standard (basic) chassis so looks like it's time for me to get new ones. Any opinions on Bilstein?
