Remote locking not working and the alarm goes off when I unlock manually.

Featured Replies

Hi, got my 2015 Mk3 VRS today.

Couple of annoying problems. The car has just one key so I need to sort that. The low battery warning came up for the remote so the seller popped a new one in. Now the remote c/l does not work and the red light on fob does not light up. He tried a couple of batteries and nothing. He’s offered to pay to get it sorted but to save the faff is there something I can do to sort this. The method stated in the book did not work. At the moment I’m unlocking the car manually which sets off the alarm and I’ve not worked out how to stop that happening either. Any tips please?

Apart from the above I love the car so far...

If this was anything like my Audi, if you unlocked with a physical key, you had to turn the ignition on within 30 seconds or the alarm would sound. Your post suggests it alarms the moment its unlocked with physical key?

Hi, yes as soon as I opened the door the alarm went off. I have now tried a different (better quality?) new battery in the fob and it has come back to life, so all is well!

I think the car would originally have had 2 sets of keys so I would chase the seller up for the second lot as they must be around somewhere?   Mine came new with three sets.

If the remote isn’t working it’s car key battery 2025 you need, it was the first ‘job’ my car needed after collection

i had two keys with my car, if you’ve only got one either chase the dealer for it or promise to bill them for a new key! You can guarantee that they’d find it then!! :D

Update: It was a dodgy (albeit new) battery - tried another and hey presto, it works!

The car was came with one key and was priced accordingly, lost by the previous, company owner. it didn’t come from a Skoda dealer. I just need to get one sorted now. Any tips for getting one without needing to apply for a mortgage gratefully received.

Thank you
