Estate Body trim/panel removal (Pics)

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Winter has taken it's toll on my VRS this time around, there was a small stone chip on the trim panel that goes above the drivers side boot window, the frost has gotten in and it has now peeled off a good chunk of the clear coat. The panel in question can be seen in the pic below (apologies, not my actual car, it's just for illustration. I borrowed this from another post as I dont have my car with me today at work).

My question is, can this panel be easily removed so I can pop it off the car and prep/spray it without having to mask everything else off? It will just be an easier job if I can. I'm happy repairing this myself if it's easily removed but I'm no body repair specialist by a long stretch so doing it on the car I would not be so comfortable with.

Cheers.

As far as I can see from here and here the panel you highlighted is part of the door BUT this may differ for the VRS.  I'll take a closer look at my 07 estate later and let you know what (if anything) I can find out.

Cheers Sticky Micky, I can always rely on you to answer my mundane posts :)

That workshop manual was what I was looking for, thanks, I had a more of a look through and managed to find the part in question:

Diagram number 7, so it looks like it does come off at the very least....how easily is anyones guess!

Note to self "look at the piccies properly".  I'm sorry I thought it was a door trim :(

Glad you got it sorted.
