The glass on the front of the headlight was broken due to a collision with a pigeon. It seems it is not possible to just replace the glass and I need a whole new unit, is this definitely the case? 

 

The bad news is that a new unit seems to be £800 from VAG, This comes down to £600 for getting it from Europarts. Are there any decent third party suppliers? I have tried bestpartstore, but it is not at all clear which variant to get. I am also trying breakersyard.com. Any other ideas anyone please? I do wonder at what point the cost of spares is actually extortion.

I have heard them at £1000.00 from dealers. Either way you have got to fit it and no doubt code it.

 

Did the pigeon survive.

I was thinking the pigeon came off worse as it didn't survive, but I'm not so sure now.

I'd probably grab a decent second hand part from eBay or a breakers yard. Which side do you need?
