Mystery noise

Featured Replies

My Mk1 Octy RS has a mystery noise when warm. From inside the car it sounds like a tapping/knocking sound. It speeds up and disappears for a while, then comes back loud and clear with a steady beat. I've managed to cure two trim rattles myself, but this one is from under the bonnet I think. Could the heating system have an air lock?

Yep, that's where I traced it to this evening. I wasn't sure what it was, but if it's normal, then I'll relax and carry on enjoying the car.

Thanks.

Are you sure it's not the hamster on the wheel under the bonnet ?

I may be new to this Skoda thing, but having looked through the handbook, I can't find a hamster on the options list. Is this something I should have asked the dealer about insted of GAP insurance?

Not an option, Hamsters are standard, my fabia has a steroid and amphetamine diet to keep it in tip-top shape...
