What oil is LL111 5?

Featured Replies

For each of my services Skoda have used 'Castrol EDGE LL111 5' this is as it appears on my invoices. Does anyone have any idea what exact oil this is? They will not tell me the name!

Thank you

Is it not 'Castrol Edge Long Life 3, and 5 litres.   So it will be 5w 30 Full Synthetic Long Life oil,  so VW 504 / 507

?

Who will not tell you a Service Desk Receptionist or a Master Tech or Workshop manager. Or someone else without a clue.

Your car, you should ask and have them tell you, or do not pay them.

Ask the Dealer Principal or Garage Manager why they can not tell a customer.

I'm inclined to think its a button on the billing computer screen. No guarantee that the oil actually used is what is reported on the bill. I was told in no uncertain terms by certain members that Skoda dealers use Quantum Longlife III which is Fuchs in reality. If you see the containers, then sure, but some may buy bulk oil from other manufacturers to save a couple of quid.

One of these two I should think:

Castrol

Edge Professional Longlife III

SAE 5W-30

50400/50700

Castrol

Edge Professional Longlife III

SAE 0W-30

50400/50700

Possibly the first one, which might explain the 5'  (for 5W rather than 0W) in your info, especially if the fill qty is listed separately and isn't 5 litres.

Maybe UK is different but down here the dealers only have to meet the VW specification and can go with whatever brand the Service Manager gets the best kickback gets the best deal on.  So one dealership might use Castrol, another Valvoline or Mobil or some unknown brand trying to break into the market.
