Mk2 vRS Octavia LED Tail Lights

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've recently decided to change the standard tail lights on my Mk2 vRS Octavia to LED ones.

I've bought a set from China, Genuine Skoda China units From Ali express (https://bit.ly/2u9JtPF)

and I'm wondering if anyone on here knows how to correctly wire them into a Uk Octavia, as the Chinese one is slightly different.

Not all the LED's Light up as they should and I believe I need to wire in some resistors also.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Paul

Assuming you have a facelift MK2 with a suitable BCM, there is no need for resistors.

The light config will need changing using VCP or ODIS-e, unfortunately VCDS can't do it. You'll also need a wire between the old T10 tail lights and the empty 6th pin on the car side of the rear light connector.

If you have a pre-fl with a CECM, I don't think you can code them in.

Thanks for the very fast response,

Yes sorry it's a 10 plate facelift model.

I was thinking alright that I need to use T10 wires fo 6th pin.

That only leaves me with the problem of coding, I know nothing about it and I doubt many in Ireland do it tbh...

Thanks again, Hopefully can find someone able, Look much better than standard in my opinion.

That looks quite cool! Could you link the product? Let us know what the quality is like when it arrives, I'm very curious!

Hi marfrohun,

I have a link in the original post for the tail lights and that is where I bought them.  https://bit.ly/2u9JtPF

They come very well packed and are genuine Skoda China units so the quality is good.

The pictures also in the original post are of the lights installed on my car but I need to get them coded properly

as langers2k has kindly let me know so bare that in mind if your thinking of upgrading.

This is the VCP programmer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJlmMzZ_VYA

However, I would recommend you use VCP to save the lighting configuration as a bcm1 file then buy VAGhelper to make adjustments: https://skodapilot.com/vaghelper/

Thank you very much my friend

Best regards
