Drivers Heated Leather Seat Working

Featured Replies

I have recently purchased a 2011 Skoda Superb Elegance estate privately.  Although very pleased with the car, the drivers heated leather seat doesnt seem to get warm. The nearside ( passenger seat does). I would like to check whether the drivers  seat is getting power to both elements and also their continuity. Whilst I have seen a couple of wiring diagrams on here the cable colours dont seem to tie up with what I have. I should say as these are electrically powered seats there numerous cables and connectors under there !

If anyone has experience of checking a heated seat out, I would welcome advice as to where to find and identify the connector block for the heated seat elements. I have checked fuses and all seems OK

Can anyone advise as to where to go to get it fixed if it is proves to be an element  ( also what should I expect to pay? ?. If it is the controller I will have a go at replacing it myself. Any help/advice woulds be welcom

Sorry, just read that you checked the fuse - damn my eyes!

Don't know if it'd show it but if there's nothing obvious, cabling-wise (ie, nothing chafing or adrift) might perhaps be worth getting someone with a code reader to plug into it to interrrogate control modules?

Hi - Thanks for that but I would think a simple continuity test for the seat heating elements and test to check the supply is getting to the connectors may indicate whats causing the problem.  Its just knowing which connector block to part !

There is a distinct difference between the seat heaters on the front seats on my car too.

the drivers side takes a couple of extra minutes to be felt.

Both take so long though that they are not very useful.

Hi

Thanks for the response. In my case the drivers heated seat definitely does not heat at all.  When I  checked them both with a thermocouple the passenger side got up to about 32C - the drives seat remained at ambient!

My old Passat would roast your ass after 5 minutes!!!

Hi

Just a thought, I note you are in Gloucester - is there anywhere around here who can do a VCDS scan at a sensible price to check it out?

yes , me

But if you have a broken element in the seat I would be surprised a scan would know that. worth a scan any way just to see what is what.

A scan definitely would assuming that the canbus software monitors the circuit, it does on the heated mirrors and will bring up a fault code if one is open circuit or no supply voltage or implausible resistance.

Hi

Thanks for that - I suppose it all depends what version of VCDS is used - maybe a main dealer scan may help - assuming they know how to use it!

Hi

Thanks for that, I will try and find somewhere local and give it a try!
