Lookers vs RRG for car service

Featured Replies

Hi

I've bought a used skoda rapid. I'm looking buy two year's service plan but don't know which dealer is better. Both are withing 6 miles from me. I'm in Ashton-under-lyne, Manchester. Your advice/suggestions will be really appreciated.

Thanks

AN

I use to use lookers skoda in Stockport for a number of years until they sent me an email saying my renault is due for a service, if they can’t get a simple email right what else are they doing wrong.

I’ve been using skoda in Rochdale for the past few years and I can’t really fault them, service wise they’re brilliant. That was until last month when I dropped them an email for a quote to get my waterpump, chain, pulleys and tensioners changed to get a reply saying my car doesn’t have a waterpump, I think I’ll be looking elsewhere next year.

That is worrisome but these are the only options available to me at this time.

A 2 year service plan with Main Dealers will not guarantee much gets done.

Is it on 'Fixed Servicing' & a Minor and Major Service.

So basically 1 Oil / Filter Service and one Oil / Filter with maybe a Pollen Filter, and maybe Air Filter, Fuel Filter or Spark Plugs dependent on Manufacturers Guidelines and if the Technician bothers even checking, let alone replacing!

Brake Fluid change an extra charge.

?

How many miles has the car done, what servicing has it had already and how many miles a year will you be doing?

An Independent garage servicing and maintenance might be a good idea.

Thanks. It had done 31500 miles. I may do 4000 to 6000 miles. It was last serviced at 23000. What independent garages you suggest.

Ones with a good reputation in your area that charge for work they do and not work and parts that might or might not get done.

It is quite simple, Service Plans can be a rip off.   Lots of looking, reporting, Free Wash & Vacuum's and not much more than Oil & Filter services.

I know you might be looking at dealer service plans but local garages are usually better priced and have more pride in their work.
