Towbar prewiring part number

Featured Replies

Can someone give me the correct part number for the towbar wiring kit to fit a octavia estate built on the 21st of August 2014 it does not have factory prepared wiring. I want to fit a 13 pin system. I have looked on pf Jones and westfailas website and contacted them but keep getting different answers

I can’t help you with the part number but look in the instructions on the PF Jones site and it will Westfalia with the part numbers.

Thanks will have another look but could not get a straight answer from PF JONES when I contacted them regarding this. The main issue is do I need the kit that says with trailer prep or without now I know the sounds like a simple question but it's not the kits are listed as with trailer prep or without but does that mean the kit comes without or the car is without the pre wiring does that make sense as it's confusing the hell out of me

It's badly worded but with trailer prep is the same as tow bar prep which you don't have so you need the without option which will give you two separate looms. The first is from the fuse box and can bus which terminates with a module in the boot. The second loom is just the  external trailer socket and wire that terminates with a plug that goes into the module from the first loom. Hope this helps.

Thanks again

You'll not be thanking me when you come to fit it as you'll be upside down on your back in the footwell try to disconnect tiny wires and insert others into the can bus in a very tight area. Take your time in doing it and read through the wiring instructions a few times and it will makes sense when you're doing it.

There was a great thread by someone called Keith iirc in the Yeti section which makes things a bit clearer.

I found the thread but unfortunately the pictures have gone

Thanks for the help I know how much of a pain the BCM plugs are to get too having already retrofitted footwell lights and a rear view camera as well as auto lights and wipers

For the negligible extra cost, I’d pay for someone to fit the towbar and electrics. At least then if it’s done wrong you have someone to blame!

I see what you meant but I don't think £300-£400 is negligible as that is what I have been quoted on top of the price of the bar and electrics. I need a removable flange bar and the only people that make them are whitter and they don't come up second hand often if at all

At least you have experience. When I did mine I was a bit surprised by how thin and fiddly the wires are compared to big hands and fat fingers.

If you get chance try and document it as we could do with an update for other users.

There is a fantastic guide on here that even has a link to download a pdf version to follow but it has everything except part numbers will try and find the link when I get home as at work

I got a towtrust removable Swan neck fitted to my Scout for ~£600. That was after trying to have a witter towbar fitted then finding it rubbing on the bumper trim, despite it being supposedly OEM.

sorry to hear that but a swan neck is no good for my cycle carrier so it needs to be a flange bar and witter is not the OEM manufacturer that is  westfalia
