Very little to none in my experience. They claimed to be completely unaware that there was a fault with the 1.5 petrol engine long after my dealer had acknowledged it.

Hello,

I keep reading about an `issue` with the 1.5 petrol engine.

I have one on order so am a little concerned.

Can I ask...as far as you know has the `issue` been sorted and will not effect a `yet to be built` car?

Many thanks.

There is a fault with the 1.5 petrol engine which is more apparent with the manual gearbox than in automatics.  Symptoms are well documented in these forums.  It is possible that drivers who are heavy on the accelerator may not even have noticed a problem.

Skoda UK have made available a "fix" for MY19 vehicles (including Karoqs and Superbs) but not yet for MY18 models.  This was made available (note: not "released") at the start of April.  We assume this is the promised "Q2 fix".  The fix seems to be available to dealers on demand rather than on general release and dealers have to apply to Skoda UK to download it via some sort of special code, hence some additional confusion.

To answer your question would be conjecture, but it would seem reasonable/logical that, if the fix is written for MY19 cars (ie those built since the Summer 2018 factory close), then it must also be being incorporated into the original ECU programming/mapping/whatever on MY19 cars built in recent months. It would be nonsensical for Skoda not to have adapted it for new vehicles too.  I would therefore guess that a "yet to be built" car would include suitable programming that achieves the same result as the "fix".

As to whether the issue has been sorted, you'll need to read the comments of others.  I make no comment on my own car as I only got it back yesterday and I have not had a good opportunity to evaluate it yet.

Thank you so much for your comprehensive reply. Very kind of you.

I am rather relieved.

BTW...are you a `Plymouth Bouy`...I was born on The Hoe!
