Navigon not linking to car properly

Featured Replies

We have just purchased our 2014 Citigo a month ago, she did not have the Navigon with her, so I purchased one from a Seat which came minus the stalk. Purchased one of those separately. The Navigon charges when attached to the stalk. iPhone X connects via Bluetooth, but nothing comes through the speakers when phone is in use. The trip computer also doesn’t show the mpg. I have tried to restore the unit via the Navigon fresh app, but it won’t let me register the device even though it says it hasn’t been registered so still has the Seat splash screen. Any ideas?

Make sure all the contacts on the car, the unit and the base are completely clean. I had this and found it was not connecting to the stalk due to a load of crap on the connectors on the car.

Thanks Peter.

Just been and cleaned all the contacts with whiskey! closest I could get to a decent contact cleaner, but unfortunately it hasn't worked. Weirdly, the Navigon charges when attached to the stalk, so not sure if I've thrown away £60 on pooBay or not. I have messaged the guy I bought it from to see if he had any issues, but I doubt he'll respond!

Anyone else got any advice?

Does the speaker and maps on the Navigon work?  If it does it has to be a connection to car issue, even though the Navigon charges when connected to the car. Look carefully at the contacts on the car, are they all nice and clean. I had just one that was not and that was the one that connected the unit to the ecu.. It might be worth trying to borrow another stalk to check that the stalk is not the issue. I'm a bit too far away unfortunately.

Hi peter, just a quick update, my phone connects to the Navigon, sound comes out on the little speaker when playing music from my phone. Plug it into the dash and nothing! All pins are clean. Going to open up the stalk to see if there is a loose connection!

Silly question - have you done a factory reset on the unit? I've got the Garmin model so may be slightly different - power the unit off completely - Use power button on top. Press and hold bottom right hand corner of screen and power unit on - screen displays a count down for how long you need to keep holding the screen for to reset

Have you had any luck with this?

Having the same problem with my Garmin PID not connecting to car. All pins look to be clean, did work as satnav when powered from usb socket. Have tried a factory reset but still doesn't connect and now can't get to satnav screen. Would like to try in another car just to confirm its not the wiring in my car that has an issue. Anybody near St Austell that wouldn't mind me trying in their car?

None what so ever Peter, but to be honest I gave up and was thinking of selling it and trying to buy one already set up for the Skoda!

Won't make any difference if it's the car with problem.  Mine was a VW one when I got it which changed over when I installed on my first Citigo. There must be someone round your way with a Citigo, Up or Mii you could plug it in to to check it works connected to a car.

That's what I want to do with mine, just need someone who will let me try in their car.
