Variable service after Revo

Featured Replies

Car (4x4) is going for its 2nd service (30k) on variable servicing and to get a Revo remap. Question is whether to keep to variable or once a year or just change oil once a year (how would that effect the variable?). I've noticed some people saying they change the oil every 5k. Would there be any point on an otherwise standard car?

The oil only has an impact on the engine. As you've tuned the engine it's not a bad idea to change the oil more frequently than with a standard engine.

That said IIRC variable servicing will tell you when it thinks the oil needs changing, so not quite sure if it would auto-adjust to the higher stresses caused by the remap?

Hi

I personally beleive in every year or 10k

If the car has been remapped then the service would be better done as fixed.

Yes with the variable service there are sensors that monitor your oil.

But just use good oil with the fixed service too.

My old vRS had its first service pre remap, but the others have been closer together. The sensors know when the oil is degrading as already mentioned. The car is still on variable, and because it does less than 10K per year its more economic that way.

Just come back after having the trial Revo done:D Good fun isn't it! Haven't used up the 5 hours yet so should have more fun then as well - hope it rains just to test under normal British conditions!

Think I'll stick to variable servicing but change oil and filter once a year (around 10k). 48 month/40k Service and full Revo next Tuesday. Can't wait except for the bill:eek:
