Throttle body return spring

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, i have a 2015 skoda citigo, 5door, 75hp, love my little car, done some slight modifications to it, exhaust, HR springs, pops and bangs software.

I was driving my car regullary, came to a stop, turned off the car and when i turned the engine back on, two errors appeared : check engine and EPC (electronic power control).

I took my car to a service, pluged in vag com, found out the error was appearing because i had a problem with the throttle body.  Got the throttle body out at the service and found out that the return spring was broken, split in half, and this would stop the throttle from closing all the way. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Why did this happen, can the software mods cause this (what the tuner modified is how much gas is thrown in the engine, nothing to do with the throttle, and the tune was done by profesionals and with the thought of keeping the engine safe). Is there any way of just replacing that spring? And what can the cause be?

Found this hunting for a new spring as had the same issue. Nothing to do with mods etc. Just bad part design by VW...

Zero reports of this for Up!/Citigo/Mii on the massively larger Up! Owner's Club site.....
I note "lpt100" has an Octavia, not a Citigo, at least as the profile info says, so is this just a feature of his Octavia? (I did 260K miles in two of them with zero defects)... Sounds like "I'm confused by completely different cars" :)

It's a VAG part, so will be found in lots of vehicles of the period, in the throttle body. Not that common a fault, but the solution is to replace the whole body due to a fault with a 50p part that can't be sourced.

It's not a fault in my Octavia, a Touran actually.. Your comment about being " confused by completely different cars" makes it sounds like you naively believe every car has its own unique parts?
