Just picked up my Mondeo replacement, 2014 Octavia Mk3 Estate 1.6 TDi.  So far, very pleased with it.  It's 5 years old with 58k miles.  Base 'S' spec but with the exception of cruise control and tinted windows has everything I need.  I figured I can easily get the windows tinted and if I can add cruise later then great, if not then no worries.

 

I'm a musician and travel about 30k miles a year, so a difference in fuel consumption of 50mpg in my mk4 Mondeo and 75mpg in the Octavia would save me approx £1200 a year.  Fingers crossed the man-maths works in the long term.  The 118 mile drive home returned 74mpg, and the (very careful) 127 mile drive to last night's gig returned 86.5mpg.  

 

Already proved it's load lugging capacity; full drum kit, keyboard, guitar, two trumpets, all our clothes and 3 people.
