My 2008 Skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi has a problem starting, It has to turn over for quite a few turns before it eventually starts, it does this when hot or cold, I have already replaced the battery, which didn,t help much, I have read that it may be the starter motor, not turning it over quick enough

A depending on your insurer and what you want from the car a remap solved it for me after hunting down earthing issues, replacing the starter with a refurbed one and also the battery.  The lasy 2 helped for a short while until things settled down (couple of weeks maybe).  In the end the only thing that sorted it was a remap.
