brakes

Featured Replies

hi chaps,

I could do with buying my brakes today  but im at a bit of a loss as to which ones are right. I've done a vin Check and the PR  codes come back as:

No wear indicators

Front = 1ZB

Rear 1KT Disc brakes, rear (Geomet D)

looking on ECP if found the following which I think are correct, could someone help confirm:

Front - PR codes on site are 1LL and 1LP on desktop and come up on my phone below as 1ZA- but these are the only 312mm fronts listed ??

Rears - seems to match the PR codes:

I took the risk and brought what I think Is correct

I would ask the same question. I hope we will get a help.

The 312mm fronts are all the same.

The rears require some measurement to be sure

I'd phone the dealer. Think theres bout 3 different disc sizes and 2 different pad sizes on the front alone!

This is incorrect.

If it's a MK2 VRS the front rotors are all 312mm and the brake pad was unchanged throughout the model run.

If it's a mid power engine with 55mm struts then it will have 288mm rotors with the same brake pad and caliper as the VRS.  The difference is in the rotor size and the caliper carrier.

If it's one of the lighter engines with the 50mm strut it will have the 280mm rotor and  which has a different caliper & pad.

It's only the rears that are all over the shop and have several different diameters and caliper types

Bet you had fun with the rears? I did mine over Easter. Not much room for a spanner on the nipple unless you have a deeply cranked 11mm spanner. Just enough room to make a 20degree movement to engage the spanner again. Did you use an Eezibleed kit?
