Hi all. I have an odd problem, which I have seen that people have had before. My 59 plate Octavia's indicators occasionally flash as though the alarm is going off, but it doesn't make any sound. The pips do go off when I open and close the car. Recently, I put the car into the garage, and they told me that there was a fault code on the alarm horn. They replaced the alarm horn for me. Unfortunately, the indicators have started flashing again once in a while, when the car is parked, and alarmed. The one thing I have seen, that I am not sure about, is that the hazard warning switch seems to be flashing when the car is locked up. Is this correct, or should the light in it be constant? Thanks.

Hazard warning switch shouldn't be lit at all unless your hazard lights are actually switched on, i would have thought.

 

Sounds like there could be a problem with the switch. Does the switch work normally ie switch on and off properly, and does it feel right?

And does the alarm work properly?

Action the hazard switch vigorously for a few minutes, really prod at it till your finger hurts.

 

Problem may then go away if it was dusty or oxidised contacts from lack of use.

 

I have a similar problem with my indicator stalk and also its self cancelling action that will often heal up on its own.
