Mk3 1.8 Octavia 250Nm -> 350+ in the long run?

Featured Replies

Hello enthusiast and professionals!

Lets say that one could be able to optimize 1.8 to about 220HP / 360Nm, would there be too much down sides in terms of wear and tear in some parts? And how about manual / DSG, other can handle better the added torque? I'd rather go with manual, but the pickings are very slim in my budget & criterions.

Any hints / tips what would be reasonable limit for torque if one would not do any other modifications to the car? Or would there be some rather effortless way to make the car endure the new physics?

Welcome.

First thing might be read the pinned thread at the top of the Octavia Mk2 section on 1.8 & 2.0 TSI's then if your car / engine is of the age where the timing chain tensioner could be an issue address that first.

If it is a 1.8TSI with a standard software and clutchpack DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG i would not be taking it to 360 Nm or anything like that.

Thanks Skoffski :]

So the tensioner problem isn't just a Mk2 issue?

Good to know about that DSG limitation. Hopefully there will be some brilliant manual available when the time comes.

It should be just a Euro 5 so Mk2 problem, but then you never said what you had just that it was a 1.8.

EDIT,

Sorry, missed seeing MK3 in your title. My bad.

There are Mk2 Fabia vRS 1.4TSI with DQ200 DSG and 220ps and over 320Nm, but then lighter car etc etc and maybe not getting given all it has that often..

No biggie, didn't read the whole thread ;)

Any knowledge how the arms & bushes etc handles the torque? Could it be something like 350Nm and one has to replace them every other year, but 300 is fine?
