Finding Security Code for the MFD2 Radio/CD/SatNav

Featured Replies

Just bought a second hand 2005 Octavia Elegance Mk2. it has a Radio/CD/SatNav Unit, part number 1t0 035 194 b (MFD2)

Don't have the Security code, where I bought it from don't have it either.

Is it it possible to find the security code with the Unit serial number & VIN?

If some helpful person hasn't written it on the side of the radio, I believe your Skoda dealer may be able to get it for you.

If not, there are various sellers on eBay who will find the code for you for a small fee.

Do you actually need the code, or just would like to have it just in case???

Thanks for your reply,

You may be able to help me with this.

I need to disconnect the Radio/CD/SatNav Unit (take out) to fit my IceLink device (which replaces the boot mounted CD Changer with an iPod Interface).

I read somewhere that the code is not required if the Radio/CD/SatNav Unit is taken out and put back in the same vehicle if the car battery is not disconnected.

Also the the code is not required if the  battery is disconnected (changed) with the Radio/CD/SatNav Unit is left in place?

I believe this to be true because I have just done it to remove the iPod Interface from my previous '05 Skoda Octavia and I did not need the code for the CD/Radio to work.

I've disconnected the battery in my car moe than once and the radio didn't need the code.

Papfox,

I have already taken the Radio/CD/SatNav out of the aperture (not disconnecting it) to get the Blaupunkt model number (7612002031) Skoda unit type (1Z0035194) and unit serial number (xxx<-14->xxx)

Does that mean I can disconnect the Radio/CD/SatNav Unit (take out) to fit my IceLink device and replace it and it won't need a security code to work again?

I could only say I believe that is true, ie so long as it goes back into the same vehicle it will be recognized, but i could be wrong.

Also not sure if the IceLimk device would affect this...........

Also turn on the ignition first (to feed the code to the radio) before switching on the radio.

Do it the other way round it will ask for the code. If so switch off the radio and ignition and start again.

Thanks to all who have replied/helped me with this.

IcelinkPlus now installed in Nexus head unit.

Removed Head unit, replaced CD changer connection plug with IceLinkPlus connection plug.

Replaced Head unit with ignition switched on, as suggested above.

No Security Code Required!!! {I had obtained the code anyway from local Dealer who charged me £15 to read it from my vehicle - at least I now know what the code is}

Can now play iPod through Nexus CD/Radio/SatNav!!!

Whilst replacing head unit noticed the glove box light was lit with glove box door shut (back of light shone through into head unit aperture)

Removed glove box to discover glove box light micro switch arm was not being actuated by glove box door projection.

Adjusted micro switch arm (added a piece of self adhesive foam strip.)

Took 90 minutes to replace Glove Box  ??? Many futile attempts to line up screws before I realized it is necessary to locate the bottom of the glove box first to get the screw holes to line up correctly - if not the glove box gets distorted and the door does not operate properly.

For future readers of this post, I intended that you should install the head unit with power off, as is normal, and the switch on the ignition before switching on the head unit.

Glad you got it sorted. Well done.
