caravanning with a Superb

Featured Replies

The spec's for the superb comfort 130 bhp TDi and it's kerb weight make it an ideal car for towing a caravan. Does anyone out there tow with one and if so what sort of results do youget?

I used to Tow with a Octavia vRS, an its was not to bad for a Turbo Petrol.

I'm getting a towbar fitted next week, as we are going away in easter, and towing with the Superb should be easy.

The Superb did win "Towcar of the year" about 3 years, so you have nothing to worry about.

Octygone has fitted a Towbar to his Superb. Give him PM, or wait for him to reply, as he could probably give you some more info.

The version that won Tow car of the year was the 2.5Tdi I think with Tiptronic. That is a surprising amount heavier than the 130 manual (1706Kg as opposed to 1465 - 1567Kg). However should still be a very good towcar.

Only ever towed a smallish trailer with mine, but even with it fully loaded the car was faultless, and didn't feel the trailer at all.

only towed a small trailer with my PD130, but it felt like it wasn't there. bit disconcerting really, as it's quite a low trailer so i couldn't see it, either: kept panicking it'd come off...

Just got the Towbar fitted on Thursday just gone, and I've had the caravan (LUNAR LX2000 520) out for a test run today to see what it was like.

I know the weather is a bit grim so I've stuck to the normal A/B roads near to my house.

I can see why this car was Towar car of the year not so long ago. It was tremendous.

The V6 TDi delivered smooth torque power. TBH, it felt the the caravan was not there. Took a hilly incline doing 35mph, in fourth gear. Planted the right foot a little harder and the car just started accelerating with any hesitation. INCREDIBLE.

So my answer is the Superb is an ideal caravan tower.

You do have to be aware of the recommended "85%" rule. My car vs caravan comes in at 72%.

CC Remap next! Imagine the towing fun with that!

Who you going to have your Re-map done with?

Im getting a Custom Code remap, hopefully in the next few weeks. (Time permitting)

Got a AMD one click and towing is easy peasy  whatever length the van was, by the time you get there it will be longer..........just put a few extra pounds in the rear tyres and about 60 kg nose weight and forget it's there
