A bit of winter maintenance going on, was getting wet and mouldy inside after being rained on and not driven for months.... Ive decided the cover is keeping the damp in, and the sun can't dry it, so cover is off for good... had to get the mould cleaner out, and the whole thing dried, its running while I'm writing this heating the inside good... (started first time! didn't like the rattle until the oil pressure got up though! :O)

looking much better now, all dried up, and warmed up.... got to keep on top of it, try to keep it in good condition! I was a bit stressed about leaving the handbrake on for months, but it wasn't stuck on, moved as if new, but wont be putting it back on when I turn it off today

Looks like you've got the usual hood splits over the middle of the side window...   You can patch it but basically it'll be new hood time .

But I guess you know that already!

Easy enough to do on the drive if you set your mind to it.

yeah... unbelievably its the original hood... spent most of its time under a hard top , was quite tight when last owner kept the hard top... but still works. and yes..... new hood is on th elist of things to do! preferably mohair :)

well that doesn't look good.... at least the drain holes are working, but don't like the lovely "rust brown" colour! 😮

well.... update time... I lost my mx5 on march 28th to coronovirus... I took it in for MOT , and it was TWO DAYS out of MOT before the extension, so I didn't qualify.... then we went into lockdown, and the MOT tester went home! 😮 haven't seen it since! well today, with things restarting, it went in for an MOT, to a different tester than my mechanics (friend/special tester ! lol) so held my breath.. it failed...

nothing about rust, so all the money i spent last year was approved by another (unknown) MOT tester as all GOOD! (yay!) , fixed the headlight aim, then quietly explained that its not an mx5, its a eunos roadster, they need to use the VIN number to match it, they won't find a match, imported cars up to 1995 don't need a cat, and it should be tested as a non cat car (not sure that one even has a fast idle test!) and we have......

YAY! it lives another year, I have one of my cars back! (audi still out of commission) , I will change the rear pads, and those brake pipes need doing, as its effectively a rust free mk1 v-special, I may as well do them and get it in good condition... (I will do all the pipes , and the fuel lines) ... pic of it coming home soon to be added!

Nice one - was going to say easy to fix the headlight aim and ask whether he was using the correct criteria...

Result.

Just need Covid-19 to pack in and the rain to stop now so it can be used

What have you broken on the Audi?

it just needed a wheel bearing, but everything was rust welded solid on the hub, so whole thing taken off and replacement sourced from scrap yard.... don't buy a car from scotland.

No green mould per-se on mine as it's in the garage but it must've got a bit damp in there over winter as there was some of that white fluffy damp mould stuff in a few places.

TBH I've left mine SORN'd since November for the moment as we were initially in Lockdown when the weather was good, I'm still working from home so no need to travel and recently it's been chucking it down.  It did start first time when I tried it though...

mine is going into dry storage (well a barn... it is dry though!) over the next winter, found a local farmer who will let me keep it there ... going to sorn it this winter..

Wheel bearings no bother for me, got a 6 ton press in the garage. Keep pumping until it makes the satisfying bang noise :D

Not long done one on the Octavia.

its been running a bit rough, so for the sake of £9 I changed the plugs, they were pretty much welded in place, think they had been there a long time, didn't look too bad though, seems happier with the new ones in :)
